Good-bye Freshman, Hello Sophomore!

Finals! Finals! Finals! Finals! Finals! Finals! Finals! Finals!
That is definitely what is on every Western student's mind. It's definitely on my mind. I was actually really lucky with the timing of my exams. I had two classes that I'm really worried about: Chinese and International Studies. Chinese was two exams in two class periods, but it was last week. International Studies is my middle exam tomorrow and I have about a 6 hour break between my morning final and then my International Studies final. So morning is anthropology--not a big deal, right now I'm taking a quick break to check Facebook :D, my email and gladly talk to Brita. Then I have International Studies and Spanish back to back. I'm not too worried about Spanish either, I'll look it over tonight will probably be fine for the exam.
I promised myself that I wouldn't procrastinate on studying for finals as I did for mid-terms because I knew that I could've done better in some areas on my mid-terms. Because we didn't have school on Thursday, I've had Thursday through today without any classes, but I still did a lot of procrastinating. I organized my study guides and notes and got everything together, but did very little actual studying. I blame Katie for being the coolest roommate and Phoebe, my Christmas tree for showing me how Christmas trees grow in layers. (If you would like to personally witness this, you may stop by my house over Christmas break!) Anyway, I left most of my hardcore studying for yesterday and today. I'm still not too terribly worried. In my hardest class I have to score above a 69% (according to Ira) to maintain an A in the class (it has to be a 93%). That made me feel much better and I'm very glad that I did that extra credit. For my other two classes, I've been over the study guides and through my notes and feel fine on most everything.
As I've been studying since I got out of work at 3, I've found fun mini-breaks to get me through without going crazy. I decided to lay out my four-year college plan during a few of my breaks and I'm very excited. I definitely thought that I was going to be here for at least five years while I double major and double minor, but so far (without studying abroad at all) it looks like it will take me 9 semesters total (that's 4 1/2 years). So, if I stay take summer classes, I will graduate on time. I'll still be a super-senior technically because I'm a sophomore next semester, but it will all even out in the end. I like having a plan. I like it a lot.
I suppose I should get back to some studying. I will have Wednesday and Thursday completely school free so I'll try to post again then and write some things of actual interest.
I love you all! Happy Holidays!!

It's a Winter Wonderland!

I had many worries about my Chinese exam, but they were quickly washed away after dinner when Katie and I played in the snow. Meet Herman, the cutest snowman on campus. As Katie sang to me, "With a BlowPop pipe and a sucker nose and buttons of chocolate chips...."
Next week starts real exams, I had my two Chinese ones this week, but I still have three more on Tuesday. I think I'm going to chill and be glad I don't have to work today or tomorrow. Tomorrow will probably be filled with getting study guides and notes organized for a weekend of hard core studying. I'm pretty worried about my international studies, but my Spanish and anthropology will just be reviewing notes and things.
Work is going well, it's actually really easy and gets kind of boring as it's not really the season for frozen yogurt. It's alright though, it's really fun getting to know the different people that I'm working with. This one guy had the opportunity to live in Alaska, continue racing sled dogs and work on a crab boat in the summer. Doesn't that sound ideal? He's raced his team of dogs in Kinross and Kalkaska. That is so cool to me. He was also impressed that I can check my oil, change a tire and drive in the snow...girls must be wimps down here!
I guess I don't really have that much to tell you, right now. I'm more in the reading mood than the writing mood. If you get a chance this holiday season I have two book recommendations. First, The Diplomat's Wife by Pam Jenoff. Second, Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos. They are both excellent, fairly quick reads.
Buenos noches, mis amigos!
