Clean Slate Time!!

Whew! First day of classes/ first day of new semester working= FINISHED! Haha, one down, 31 more to go...bring it on! This semester all of my classes are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to about 6 p.m. and I'm working on campus Tuesday and Thursday 9-5. It doesn't allow too much steady time for homework during the week, but I think it will work out alright.
Work went really well, too. Starting last semester kind of left me pretty scattered on the whole thing, but now I work with the same two girls every T/R. I feel much better about it now. I made my first exhibit at work today, which was exciting. We have a bunch of different showcases around the library that spotlight what the Rare Book Room contains and we change them out every couple weeks or so. I did my first one on Spanish Literature in the RBR and I found all sorts of really cool books, like Aladdin in Spanish (Aladino y la lampára marvalliosa) amongst others. The best part was getting to translate and (try to) comprehend the gist of the books through short descriptions (in espanol) and then put that into English. It was a lot harder than I thought! So many words, when translated directly from Spanish, are boring or don't have an equivalent tense or usage. So in my mind I would translate directly and then come up with an eloquent way to say that in English. It was REALLY fun and definitely stretched my brain a little! :)
Anyway, that was probably interesting for only me! :\ For now, it's bedtime!
Adios, mis amores

So exciting to use a little of your translation skills - just a taste of your life to come. Miss you lots but so, so proud of you!! (I never even thought about children's lit in Spanish ~ how cool is that?)

Love you!

I know! We were talking at work about being super jealous of toddlers walking around speaking the language that we have been studying for years! :D
